ChargeRight (“we,” “us,” “our”) respects your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and your rights regarding your data.

- Electrical panel photos you upload for AI analysis
- Contact information (email address for support communications)
- Promo codes you enter at checkout
Payment information:
Payments are processed by Stripe. ChargeRight does not store your credit card number, expiration date, or CVV. Stripe may share with us your name, email, and the last four digits of your card for transaction records.

2. How We Use Your Information

- To improve the reliability and accuracy of our assessment service
- To detect and prevent fraud or abuse

3. Third-Party Service Providers
We share your data with the following service providers solely to operate ChargeRight. We do not sell your personal information to anyone.
- Stripe — processes your payment. Stripe Privacy Policy
- Google Cloud / Gemini — performs AI analysis on your panel photos. Your photos are sent to Google's API for processing. Google Cloud Privacy Notice
- Firebase / Firestore — stores your assessment data and photos. Firebase Privacy
- Vercel — hosts the ChargeRight web application. Vercel Privacy Policy
4. Cookies and Tracking
ChargeRight uses essential cookies and localStorage only to maintain your assessment session and remember your preferences (such as cookie consent). We do not use third-party advertising cookies or tracking pixels. We do not run targeted advertising.
5. Data Retention
We do not retain your assessment data long-term. Once your report is delivered, you receive a digital copy you can save anywhere you like. Server-side, your assessment record and any uploaded panel photos are scheduled for deletion within 30 days of report delivery.
Panel photos in particular are processed in-memory by Google Gemini for the analysis run, then released. We do not keep your panel photos around for ad-hoc review once your report is built.
Limited transactional records (Stripe payment ID, email, timestamp) may be retained longer where required for tax, accounting, fraud-prevention, or dispute-resolution obligations under applicable law. You can request immediate deletion at any time by emailing [email protected] — we will process verified deletion requests within 30 days.
6. Data Security
We use industry-standard security measures to protect your data, including HTTPS encryption for all data in transit, Firebase Security Rules to control database access, and secure storage for uploaded photos. However, no system is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
7. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
- Correction — request correction of inaccurate data
- Deletion — request deletion of your personal data
- Opt out — opt out of non-essential communications
To exercise any of these rights, email [email protected]. We will respond within 30 days.
8. Your Rights (California Residents)
Under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), if you are a California resident you have the right to:
- Know what personal information we collect about you and how it is used
- Delete personal information we hold about you
- Opt out of the sale of personal information — ChargeRight does not sell personal data to anyone
- Non-discrimination — we will not deny service, charge a different price, or provide a lesser quality of service because you exercised any of these rights
To exercise any California right, email [email protected] with the subject line “CCPA Request.” We will respond within the timeframes required by California law.
8a. International Users / GDPR
ChargeRight is operated from the United States, and all data we collect is processed and stored on servers in the United States. If you are accessing the service from the European Union, the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or any other jurisdiction outside the United States, your information will be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States. By using ChargeRight, you consent to the transfer of your information to the United States.
As noted above, panel photos you upload are sent to Google Gemini for AI analysis. Google's processing is governed by the Google Cloud Privacy Notice linked in section 3.
If the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) or UK GDPR applies to you, you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Rectify inaccurate or incomplete personal data
- Erase your personal data (“right to be forgotten”)
- Restrict or object to certain processing of your personal data
- Data portability — receive your data in a machine-readable format
- Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority
To exercise any of these rights, email [email protected]. We will respond within 30 days.
9. Children's Privacy
ChargeRight is not directed to individuals under 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will promptly delete it.
10. Data Breach Notification
In the event of a data breach that compromises your personal information, we will notify affected users within 72 hours of discovery, as required by applicable law. Notification will be sent to the email address associated with your assessment, if available, or posted as a notice on the ChargeRight website.
11. Do Not Track Signals
We honor Do Not Track. ChargeRight does not run cross-site tracking and does not load third-party advertising cookies or tracking pixels — there's nothing for the DNT signal to opt you out of, because we're not collecting that kind of data in the first place.
12. Geographic Scope
ChargeRight is operated from the United States and is intended for use by residents of the United States. NEC (National Electrical Code) calculations apply to US residential electrical systems. If you access the service from outside the United States, you do so at your own risk and are responsible for compliance with applicable local laws.
13. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Your continued use of ChargeRight after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
