A pre-assessment is a well-informed starting point, not the final word. Here is exactly what it does and does not cover, in plain language, with no new claims beyond what the rest of this site already says.
What is a ChargeRight pre-assessment not?
ChargeRight is not a permit or a final electrical design, an installation service - I do not bid or schedule work, a referral kickback - electricians do not pay to be listed, or a sales funnel for any charger brand or contractor.
It is a pre-assessment: a well-informed starting point, not the final word. A licensed electrician must verify your panel in person, do the install, and pull any required permit.
How does ChargeRight choose which NEC section decides my verdict?
The verdict comes from a deterministic NEC Article 220 load calculation, not a guess. For the common case - an existing home adding an EV charger - the report binds NEC 220.83(A). If new heating or A/C is being added alongside the charger, it binds NEC 220.83(B). NEC 220.82 binds only when you explicitly answer that this is new construction or a planned full service change; it is not used by default.

AI is pattern matching, not a professional inspection: it can misread a label or miss what a trained eye would catch. The load calculation itself is deterministic math, not AI. Either way, always confirm the verdict with a licensed electrician before any work.
What happens if the assessment turns out to be wrong?
