Is your electrician actually licensed for this?
Anyone can quote an EV charger install. Not everyone is licensed to do it, or certified for EV equipment. Here is how to check before signing a bid.
State electrical license
Every state contractor board has a public license lookup. Search the licensee by name or business and confirm it is active, not expired, and matches the address on the bid.
EVITP certification
The Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Training Program is the industry's recognized EVSE-installer cert. Verify your installer in the EVITP directory.
Insurance and bonding
Ask for proof of general liability and workers' comp. Reputable installers keep a current certificate of insurance handy.
Permit handling
The installer should pull the permit. If they are pushing you to pull it as the homeowner, ask why.

If the answers are vague, get a second bid. A real licensed installer answers each of these without hesitation.
